License My Data review: what sellers actually get

License My Data has changed focus. Its site now places clinical records and film, TV and animation archives with AI companies. Owners with ordinary company records (email, chat, CRM) are pointed to a sister site, licensemycompanydata.com, which matches companies with buyers rather than placing data itself.

On the archives it handles, its fee comes out of the deal, paid by the processor or licensee, and qualifying costs nothing.

Some buyers pay us a referral fee. It never changes your price or our score. How we make money.

What we like

  • Says the processor or licensee pays it, never the owner
  • Independent specialist de-identifies before any licensee sees data
  • Plain about where demand has dried up

Watch for

  • No people or street address named
  • Acts as introducer on some deals and sublicensor on others
  • Company records now routed to a referral directory

02

Who License My Data buys from

On the clinical side it names hospital and clinic groups, telehealth platforms, EHR vendors, scribe services and CROs, and says most records it sees come from outside the US. On the media side it wants animation studios, producers and film and TV rights holders with finished, rights-clear work.

It also works with trustees, administrators and liquidators on closed businesses. The headcount routes it used to publish for company records (30+ staff, or 50+ at peak if closed) are no longer on the site, and its privacy page notes the employee-count field was removed on 23 October 2026.

03

What License My Data pays

No price range is published. The site says general video rates have fallen sharply since 2024, and that finished animation is the strongest category it sees.

For company records, the sister site lists buyers' own published ranges, such as Mode at $100K to $5M and Mercor at $20K to $1.5M. Those are the buyers' figures, not License My Data offers.

04

The contract terms

You choose between a non-exclusive license, which you can place again and again, and a one-time exclusive buyout. De-identification is done by an independent specialist, inside your own environment or in a secure processing environment, before any licensee sees the material.

For clinical data, it says consent must be documented (consent forms, IRB approval or a data-use agreement), and that it will say plainly if records cannot lawfully leave their country.

05

License My Data's referral program

License My Data says it shares commission on deals that introducers originate, under a written agreement covering the split and non-circumvention.

06

Is License My Data a fit for your company?

It fits a clinic group, telehealth platform or rights holder with clean consent or clean rights paperwork. Ask whether it will act as introducer or sublicensor on your deal, and which processor would hold your data.

If you hold ordinary company records, compare buyers directly. Our buyer rankings cover the same programs.

07

Six checks before you send License My Data anything

We run the same checks on every buyer we rank. They take an afternoon and they protect the one thing you cannot take back: the copy of your records.

  • Find the legal entity. A registered company name, an address and at least one named person. A Facebook form alone is not enough.
  • Get the offer and the contract in writing before any export. A sample agreement tells you more than a sales call.
  • Ask who strips personal data, how, and when. You should approve the method and see a sample before anything leaves your systems.
  • Ask where the data goes. Which AI companies receive it, whether you are told, and whether it can be resold.
  • Ask how everyone is paid. By you, by the buyer, or out of your deal. Referral fees are normal; hidden ones are not.
  • Get a second quote. Terms from at least one other buyer is the fastest way to know if an offer is fair.
