Process

From first form to final payment: a company data deal in order

Expect eight stages: confirm eligibility, inventory your records, receive a quote, check a scrubbed sample, sign the written offer, deliver the records, collect payment, then verify deletion.

01

Before anyone sees a file

  1. 1

    Check you qualify

Buyers typically set a floor of 20 to 30 people and a few years of records. A few set no headcount floor.

  2. 2

    List what you have

One page: your systems, the years each covers and rough volume.

  3. 3

    Get a quote

A short form gets a range, not an offer. Our quiz is the same kind of first step.

02

A sample, then a written offer

  1. 1

    Review a cleaned sample

The buyer judges a small slice, and you see what cleaning does, with names replaced by placeholders.

  2. 2

    Sign a written offer

Exclusions, name replacement, who may receive the data and the price all go in writing.

03

Handing over

Collection varies. Your team might log in to approved systems themselves, the buyer might get read-only access to sources you pick, or you might send exports. Pick whichever gives away the least.

04

Payment, then deletion

  1. 1

    Get paid

Often three to six weeks, occasionally more. A few buyers pay only once they formally accept the data. You never pay anything.

  2. 2

    Confirm deletion

Get written confirmation that raw files were deleted on the agreed schedule.
