micro1's $12.5M offer for Spirit Airlines' data
micro1, an AI data company, filed in Spirit Airlines' bankruptcy on 2026-09-03 with a $12.5M cash offer for the airline's de-identified records.

- A 1% sample to an independent reviewer before any onward transfer
- Storage in the United States
- Raw employment records destroyed after processing
- Onward transfers limited to AI lab customers

Why the timing matters
Bidding closed on 2026-08-14 with Google on top at $10.0M and Mercor in reserve at $7.5M. micro1 filed as objections were still arriving, before Thomson's first report landed on 2026-09-08.
Later, the ombudsman came out in favour of Google. Of micro1, she said its in-house de-identification would need review, since no independent party would do it. The judge will decide at the 2026-11-06 hearing whether a bigger bid after the auction matters.

The same company now advertising to owners
According to micro1, it has set aside $1B for company data over the next year, with financing from Citi and Hercules. It quotes $100K to $2M+ per company and wants a minimum of 30 staff.
From 2026-10-09 micro1 has advertised to people whose companies have shut down, saying a past employer's data might fetch up to $2M for US firms that peaked at 25+ staff. That number is micro1's, not ours. See micro1's review and peak headcount.
